Perception House : Residential
Community Membership
Orientation:
Residents are on orientation status for the first two weeks in treatment. During this time there are no phone calls, visits or passes – with the exception of one phone call upon arrival to let family know the rules of the program. To move off of orientation status, a resident must prove knowledge of the program’s rules, exhibit a willingness to abide by them and demonstrate a desire to participate fully in treatment.
Provisional Membership:
Provisional membership allows residents phone, visit and buddy pass privileges. Provisional membership requires that residents actively participate in treatment and house activities. Residents work on individual recovery plans, appropriately provide and receive feedback and begin looking for a 12-step sponsor. Residents are expected to learn the 12-steps of recovery and have at least 30 days clean and sober before they move to full membership.
Full Membership:
Residents may go on community passes alone and are expected to take on a leadership role in the house by leading in-house 12-step groups, being an officer in the house meeting, being a crew chief or a buddy. Full members are role models to other residents, and are expected to secure a 12-step sponsor, offer support to their peers and share their story. Full members may work or go to school as part of their recovery plan.
