The Other Side of the Coin
Perception Programs presents La Otra Cara de la Moneda, a culturally specific film about drug and alcohol recovery. The film was written and directed by Miguel Olmo and Edwin Rexach, two Latinos from Willimantic who saw a need for the Latino population to be presented with vital alcohol and drug recovery information in a culturally sensitive manner.
The motivation for making the film was to reduce the risk and/or number of relapses by way of educating Latino substance abusers and their families on recovery concepts and ideals. A priority from the inception of the film was to make it simple and culturally familiar to all Latinos.
Cross-generational language, music and testimonies of people affected by drugs and alcohol, followed by a message of hope, make the film a truly powerful and effective tool for presenting ideals and recovery concepts to Latinos.
