We also receive referrals from other mental health and substance abuse agencies as well as self-referrals.
The Weed and Seed Project began in October 2005, which provided “store front” counseling/outreach services for the residents of Windham County . Since the beginning of this program, our Weed and Seed counselor served 92 clients by offering emergency evaluation/referral and alternative faith-based services.
Our Mission
The mission of New Perceptions is to provide substance abuse treatment for alcohol and drug dependent adult persons.
Goals include helping clients to:
- Attain abstinence, increase relapse prevention skills and be drug free at the time of discharge
- Attain and/or maintain employment during their treatment
- Remain free of arrest for an charge during their treatment
- Complete treatment successfully, or if not completing, to be discharged to a higher level of care
The services of New Perceptions targets adults (persons over the age of 18) who on assessment demonstrate having a substance use diagnosis meeting the DSM-IV criteria, or who are in a co-dependent relationship with a substance abuser. Clients may have co-occurring mental health disorders and will be assessed for psychiatric treatment needs. New Perceptions adheres to the State and Federal guidelines for non-discrimination. No client will be turned down for treatment based on inability to pay. Many clients have no medical insurance and a sliding fee scale is used to make treatment possible for them. Clients who are ineligible for admission to New Perceptions are those who are actively suicidal or homicidal, present a high risk of responding with physical violence, are grossly psychotic, cannot fully participate in their treatment due to a mental or physical disability, are in need of specialized services, like sex offender treatment, or who are currently on methadone.
