Treatment/Intervention Philosophy

Perception Programs treats the whole person through multiple treatment modalities. Our services are provided by professionals utilizing professional knowledge, skills and ethics. We employ tested traditional and alternative approaches to meet the unique needs of clients. While not all of our agency's programs are substance abuse treatment-specific, the vast majority of our clients are in recovery or in need of some level of substance abuse treatment services. The operation of our programs is based on the values of respect, compassion, and empathy. We provide cultural and gender competent service. We assist in the process of recovery by educating and counseling our clients to make changes toward a healthy, non-destructive life style.

We believe that addictions are bio-psychosocial and behavioral disorders with adverse consequences that have ramifications on clients' physical, psychological, economic, spiritual, and social well-being as well as on their community. We utilize both the disease model of addiction and psychosocial problem focus. We understand that drug and alcohol dependence is a chronic condition. We integrate our services when possible with 12-Step support programs and the AA/NA philosophy.

Our objective is to reduce clients' unhealthy behaviors (substance abuse, criminal activity, delinquency, unsafe lifestyle choices) and, in doing so, attend to other areas such as mental health issues, family, legal, employment, community and other factors which contribute to or are affected by the abuse of drugs and alcohol. We use a strengths perspective in our work with the chemically dependent, those at-risk of chemical dependency, those with co-occurring disorders and criminal behaviors, and their families.
