The Program


Brooklyn/Bridge House is an intensive, structured in-patient criminal justice substance abuse program that includes:

  • Individual Counseling
  • Group Counseling
  • Family Counseling
  • Self-help groups
  • AA/NA Meetings

Education

The educational program consists of the following evidence based curricula:

  • Drug and Alcohol Addiction
  • Cognitive Behavior
  • Criminal Conduct
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV, AIDS
  • Domestic Violence / Violence Prevention
  • Life Skills Groups and GED

Treatment

Staffed by experienced and professional clinicians, the treatment part of the program consists of individual, group, and family sessions. Each resident is assigned a counselor. The content of individual and group sessions may include but is not limited to:

  • Personal, Family, and Social Issues
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Offense-Related Behaviors
  • Jail Related Behaviors
  • Treatment and Discharge Plan with After-Care and Transitional Counseling Referrals.

Schedule

Programming runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The weekend schedule offers more free time and additional limited programming.

  • 7 a.m.               Breakfast
  • 8 a.m.               Meditation
  • 9 a.m.               Groups
  • 12 noon            Lunch
  • 1 p.m.               Groups
  • 3 p.m.               Free Time/ Study
  • 5 p.m.               Dinner
  • 6:30 p.m.          Evening Group
  • 11:30 p.m.        Lights out

Orientation 1 Week for Clinical Assessments

  • Complete 24 Hour Assessment
  • Complete 72 Hour Assessment
  • Complete LSI-R / ASUS
  • Get to know residents / staff
  • Know Rules and Regulations
  • Identify Addictive Behaviors / Thinking Errors
  • Vote-in

Pre-Contemplation Stage

  • Complete Recovery Plan
  • Complete DOC Community Transition Plan
  • Identify Offense-Related Behaviors
  • Identify and share defenses in group
  • Good chore performance
  • No Performance-Citations / Consequences
  • No Behavioral Contracts

Contemplation Stage

  • Complete Individual Recovery Reviews
  • Identify and share feelings in group
  • Identify and share defenses in group
  • Good chore performance
  • No Performance-Citations / Consequences
  • No Behavioral Contracts

Active Stage

  • Complete Individual Recovery Reviews
  • Few Consequences in Program
  • Good chore performance
  • No Performance-Citations / Consequences
  • No Behavioral Contracts
