Brooklyn/Bridge : Residential
The Brooklyn/Bridge Program is a 36 bed, intensive, structured, short-term, residential substance abuse work release treatment program for adult male Department of Correction clients, located in Brooklyn, CT. Designed to assist inmates in their return to society, Bridge/Bridge acts as a bridge between prison and the community. Utilizing a variety of educational, treatment, and self-help methods, Brooklyn/Bridge Program encourages residents to adopt independent and responsible life styles that are free of drugs, alcohol, and criminal behavior.
The Brooklyn/Bridge Program is funded by the Department of Correction.
Brooklyn/Bridge 2009 Program Update
In the 2008-2009 fiscal year 112 clients were served. The average length of stay is 171 days. Of the 112 clients served, 105 were in the inpatient component only, and 5 were in the work-release component. The average number of referrals per month was 10 and the average number of clients in house was 35. Cultural diversity remained well balanced with 47 Caucasian, 33 African Americans, 26 Hispanic (Puerto Rican) and 6 Hispanic (Other). The program received a 96 % in the Department of Correction standards audit.
