Alternative Incarceration Center

Program Content

By providing an environment for learning and practicing, the AIC enhances the pro-social skills of the client, while being responsive to public safety. It is the role of the AIC to save bed space in Connecticut correctional facilities; therefore accepts those clients who would otherwise be incarcerated.

The following are the core elements of an offender's participation in the AIC program:

  • Targeted Interventions including Cognitive Skill Building and Substance Abuse
  • Substance Abuse Assessment, Education, and Referral
  • Community Service supervised by the AIC staff
  • Employment Services
  • Comprehensive Case Management based on thorough Assessment results and through utilization of Motivational Interviewing techniques

By participating in the AIC services, each client is provided the opportunity to learn and demonstrate the pro-social behavior acceptable in our communities.
